Counting calories creates a psychological environment that is very conducive to developing, or exacerbating binge eating. Calories matter when it comes to fat loss. We cannot escape the energy equation. However, the PROCESS of tracking calories as a long term tool for controlling behaviour often leads to perfectionism, an all or nothing mindset and rebound.
